Mon Vert Cafe, “My Green Cafe,” lives up to its name in many respects, buying eggs, produce, bread, cheese and other products from some of the best local farmers, artisans, and producers. Brewing terrific coffee (from Vermont Coffee beans). And offering wine and beer. It also serves breakfast, lunch, and light dinners.
Look for breakfast sandwiches made with Red Hen bread, local eggs, and excellent cheese (my favorite so far involves Cabot cloth-bound cheddar and Red Hen’s Mad River Grain whole grain loaf); terrific espresso, Americanos, and other espresso drinks. There’s a range of salads for lunch, along with sandwiches and panini. Pastries, cookies and artisan chocolate bars soothe a sweet tooth.
The owners Cameron (who runs the kitchen) and Laura (coffeemaker, greeter, and smile behind the counter) did a nice renovation, turning a challenging space into one that feels warm & inviting.
